Online intergenerational trauma therapy in California.

Online intergenerational trauma therapy supports people in California who want to break cycles from family trauma. This therapy explores patterns passed down across generations to address how past experiences shape current behaviors and relationships. Sessions offer insight and understanding.

Who intergenerational trauma therapy is for

People who want to break cycles from family trauma come to this work to understand inherited patterns. They may notice how conflict was handled at home, whether avoidance or confrontation was the norm, and how emotions were either expressed or left unspoken. Expectations around roles or achievements often get passed down, shaping experiences across generations.

A child of immigrants, I saw the impact of intergenerational trauma and the limited access to mental health in marginalized communities that continue to suffer silently due to stigma and lack of culturally competent therapists. It's also common to see relationships where communication patterns reflect unspoken cultural expectations. Children of immigrants are just one example among many.

How it works

Intergenerational trauma therapy includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy. CBT is used to delve into your past to overcome self-defeating thoughts, doubts, and insecurities. Narrative therapy focuses on the stories handed down about your family and yourself. For some people, it matters not having to explain and justify every little aspect of who you are.

I strive to help those from any background, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. Each part of your intersectional identity deserves to be nurtured and addressed. Not having to explain who you are makes therapy feel more natural. Being a culturally competent therapist is also very important to me, as we are all made up of different, intersectional identities that shape us.
